Where the figures come from, and how we work them out:
Data sources and how the figures are worked out
Where the figures come from
We read symbol information from four live MT5 accounts in US dollars with HF Markets (SV) Ltd, one per account type. The figures are estimates from those platform prices, and your trading account statement shows what each trade actually cost.
Outside an instrument’s regular trading hours, the row reads Market closed · showing figures from before the close, with an Earlier average spread. Earlier figures also appear when a recent price is missing during trading hours.
All times are UTC. Data received, at the top of the tool, shows when the latest data arrived. In an open row, How these figures are measured gives Samples used, the period behind the average, and Latest price.
How a spread becomes a dollar amount
We save samples at regular intervals and convert each spread to US dollars with the value of one price step on that instrument. The 24-hour average, lowest and highest spreads and the spread cost use the samples with a confirmed conversion.
Spreads are shown in points (pts) for indices, crypto and stocks, and in pips for the other instruments, with costs in USD. Share CFDs can load after the rest of the table has appeared.
For gold (XAUUSD), 1 pip is $0.10 per troy ounce, on 100 ounces per lot, as in our spread tools for other brokers, so you can compare brokers directly. HFM prices gold in $0.01 steps worth $1 per lot, so 1 pip equals 10 steps.
Commission from HFM’s MT5 settings
The round-turn commission comes from each instrument’s commission settings in MT5, for the account you select, at the latest confirmed rate. The total adds it to the spread cost for your lot size.
Zero and Unconfirmed
A confirmed spread of zero counts as a sample of 0. Unconfirmed stands in for an amount until its commission rate and currency conversion are confirmed, and $0.00 is a calculated zero cost. Open the row to see which part is pending.
What the figures cover
The tool covers the spread and the round-turn commission for your lot size. The HFM swap calculator shows the swap on a position held overnight, and rebates are credited separately on your trading.
The 1-lot gold table under the first heading uses the same 24-hour averages, saved from our forex rebate comparison at 11:35 UTC on 15 October 2026. The rebate in that table is what ForexFanClub pays per lot.

Which HFM Account Has the Lowest Spread?
The HFM Zero account has the tightest spread, but a trade on Zero also pays a commission. So the account with the lowest spread is not the cheapest one, and on gold the Unlimited account has the lowest total cost.
On 1 lot of gold, the spread on the Zero account averages $9.67, and the $10 commission brings the total cost to $19.67. The Unlimited account has almost the same spread and no commission, so the same trade costs $10.33.
1 lot of gold, 24-hour average
| Account | Before the rebate | After the rebate |
|---|---|---|
| HFM Unlimited account | $10.33 | $7.63 |
| HFM Pro account | $16.62 | $10.32 |
| HFM Zero account | $19.67 | $13.37 |
| HFM Premium account | $35.42 | $21.92 |
The order of the accounts stays the same after the rebate that ForexFanClub pays you per lot. Premium pays the largest rebate, but a gold trade on Premium still costs about three times as much as on Unlimited. The HFM rebate guide shows how much you receive on each account, and our HFM account types guide compares the minimum deposit and the other differences between the accounts.
If you trade gold at HFM, the Unlimited account is the cheapest, before and after the rebate. On 1 lot of gold, the total cost after the rebate is about $8 on an Unlimited account and about $22 on a Premium account.
Unlimited pays a smaller rebate per lot than Premium, and HFM offers Unlimited only in some countries. Where Unlimited is not offered, the Pro account is the next cheapest.
On EURUSD, a trade costs less on the Zero account than on Unlimited after the rebate. So if you mostly trade currency pairs, compare Zero and Unlimited in the tool.
What Spread Does Each HFM Account Start From?
HFM publishes a “from” spread for each account. The Zero account starts from the lowest, 0 on forex and gold, and the Premium account starts from the widest, 1.4 pips.
HFM Premium account
SpreadFrom 1.4 pips
CommissionNone
HFM Pro account

HFM Unlimited account

A “from” figure is the lowest level the account reaches, and the spread on a normal trading day is wider. On the Pro account, for example, the spread starts from 0.6 pips, and our 24-hour average on EURUSD is 0.75 pips. So use the published figures to see the order of the accounts, and use the tool for the cost of your trade.
Account conditions published by HFM: Premium (opens in a new tab), Pro (opens in a new tab), Zero (opens in a new tab), Unlimited (opens in a new tab).
In some countries, HFM gives the Unlimited account another name, such as InfinityX in India and KATANA in Japan.
What Commission Does HFM Charge?
On currency pairs and gold, only the HFM Zero account charges a commission. For opening and closing 1 lot, you pay $6 on a currency pair and $10 on gold. HFM: Zero account commission table (opens in a new tab)
Premium and Pro are published with “Commission: No”, with certain products excluded. In the tool, share CFDs carry a round-turn commission on both accounts, so check the row for the instrument you trade.
How much the commission matters depends on what you trade. On gold, the commission is about half of the total cost of a trade on the Zero account. On EURUSD, the spread on the Zero account is so narrow that a 1-lot trade costs $7.30 in total, close to the $7.53 on the Pro account.
Why Does Your Trading Platform Show a Different Spread?
Your trading platform can show a different HFM spread from this page for two reasons. First, spreads change through the trading day. Second, the figure on this page may measure something different from the figure in your platform.
When spreads widen
- News and economic data
Spreads can widen around scheduled releases and unexpected announcements. - Daily rollover
HFM says spreads can widen and liquidity can fall from 23:55 to 00:05 server time. HFM: forex conditions (opens in a new tab) - Thin liquidity
Spreads widen when fewer buy and sell prices are available, often outside the main trading sessions.
Because spreads widen outside the main trading sessions, it helps to know when each HFM market opens and closes. The table below shows the trading hours of each group of HFM markets in your own time zone.
Our forex market hours page shows the hours of each symbol, next to the hours at other brokers.
Three numbers, three meanings
You may be comparing figures that measure different things.
- HFM’s “from” spread
This is the lowest spread that HFM publishes for the account. - Our 24-hour average
This is the average of our samples over the last 24 hours. - Latest sample
This is the spread we recorded in our most recent sample.
The unit can differ as well. MT5 shows the spread in points, and on currency pairs and gold, 1 pip in this tool is 10 points. So 0.9 pips shows as 9 in MT5.
Use an average to see the general level, and check the current spread in your platform when you place the order.

What Does the Total Cost Cover?
Total cost in the tool is the spread plus the round-turn commission for the lot size you set. The other costs of a trade, such as the swap, are not in it.
- Covered in this toolSpread, and round-turn commission
- Handled separatelyOvernight swap, slippage, payment fees, and trading rebates
Where to check the swap and other fees
Holding a position past the daily rollover adds a swap, and HFM can add further fees on swap-free and Islamic accounts. The HFM swap calculator shows the swap for your trade, and the swap article explains both the swap and the fees.
How Do You Get a Rebate on Your HFM Trades?
ForexFanClub pays a rebate on qualifying trades at HFM, credited separately from the spread. The totals in the tool show your cost before the rebate.
To receive the rebate, open your HFM trading account with the button below. HFM then records ForexFanClub as the partner of the trading account.
If you already trade at HFM, keep your HFM Client Area login and add one more trading account with Campaign ID 314605. The HFM rebate guide shows each step.
HFM Spread and Commission FAQ
- Does the Zero account always mean a zero spread?
-
No. The Zero account starts from a spread of 0 on forex and gold, and the spread moves during the day. It widens around news and at the daily rollover.
On gold, for example, our 24-hour average on Zero is 0.97 pips. Compare the accounts on Total cost in the tool.
Our zero spread accounts comparison shows how often HFM Zero was at 0.0 pips on EURUSD and compares it with other brokers.
- What is the HFM spread on gold?
-
On a Premium account, our 24-hour average spread on gold is 3.54 pips. On a Zero account, it is 0.97 pips, plus a $10 commission per lot.
The tool at the top of this page shows the figure for every account.
- How do I work out the profit on an HFM trade?
-
The tool on this page shows the cost of a trade, which you pay whether the price moves for you or against you. For the profit, our pip calculator shows what 1 pip is worth for your lot size.
Multiply that value by the pips the price moves in your favour, and then take away the Total cost from this tool.
- How does Total cost relate to my trading account statement?
-
Total cost estimates the spread and the commission for your lot size, so you can compare accounts before you trade.
Your trading account statement records the actual cost, including your fill price, the swap and any slippage.
The Rest of the HFM Numbers
The spread is one side of what a trade costs. HFM’s rebate, swap and margin pages cover the other costs, the account types page helps you choose an account, and two pages compare HFM with other brokers.
You have now seen what each account costs per trade. Forex FanClub’s rebate service returns part of those trading costs on eligible HFM trades, and the totals in the tool above are the cost before any rebate is applied.
