Which Deposit Method Should You Use at XM?
The deposit method that you choose decides how your money comes back. Under XM’s withdrawal rules (opens in a new tab), the amount you deposit goes back to the same method first.
- Local bank method
Some countries have an instant bank payment on the Deposit screen. In our test of a local bank method, the deposit arrived at once, and the whole balance, profit included, came back to the bank in one request. - Bank transfer or crypto
Your whole balance, profit included, can also come back in one request. - Card or e-wallet
A card or e-wallet is quick for the deposit. When you withdraw, the deposited amount goes back to the card or e-wallet first. Your profit then goes out in a second request, by bank transfer or crypto.
The table below shows how a deposit of $300 comes back when your balance has grown to $420.
| Deposit method | Request 1 | Request 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Local bank (our test) | $420, all in one request | Not needed |
| Deposit by bank or crypto | $420, all in one request | Not needed |
| Deposit by card or e-wallet | $300 back to the card or e-wallet | $120 by bank transfer or crypto |
If your Deposit screen lists a local bank method, use it. In our test of a local bank method, the deposit reached the trading account at once. Our withdrawals reached the bank within minutes, profit included.
If your country has no local bank method, deposit by bank transfer or crypto. A card is fine for a small first deposit. However, plan two requests when you withdraw profit from a card deposit.
Which Payment Methods Does XM Accept?
Your country and your trading account decide the list. XM publishes no list by country, so check your own Deposit Methods screen.
Log in to the XM Members Area (opens in a new tab) in the XM app or on the website. On Home, choose the trading account at the top of the account card. Then tap Deposit.
The Deposit Methods screen lists the methods for that trading account. The methods that you have used are under Saved Methods, and the others are under Available Methods.

The XM Help Centre (opens in a new tab) groups the methods into the types below.
- Bank transfer
From a bank account in your name. - Local transfers
Domestic bank payments that XM offers in some countries, such as Mobile Banking. - E-wallets
Skrill, Neteller and other e-wallets. The e-wallet must be in your name. - Cryptocurrency
Crypto wallets, and in some countries Binance Pay. - Credit or debit card
Visa, Mastercard and other cards in your name.
The list can also differ between your trading accounts, for example between a USD trading account and a trading account in your local currency. So check the screen for each trading account.
What Is the Minimum Deposit at XM?

- $5
- Ultra Low account
- $5
- Shares account

Does XM Charge a Deposit Fee?
XM charges no deposit fee. Your bank, card or wallet company can still charge its own fee.
- XM’s fee
None, on deposits and on withdrawals. - Your bank’s fee
Your bank, card or wallet company sets its own fee. XM credits the amount that reaches XM after that fee. - Currency exchange
In most cases, XM changes the money into your trading account’s currency. A card company may change the money instead. For a local method, the screen shows an estimate before you confirm. - International bank transfer
From $200 or the same amount in your currency, XM also pays the fee of XM’s own bank.
Before a transfer from abroad, ask your bank what it charges to send the money. The XM fees guide also shows the inactivity fee and the other costs outside trading.
How Do You Deposit Money in XM?
