Every fee XM can charge you, and the fees it does not charge.
Checked on 2 October 2026
For most traders, the spread is the main cost at XM. Part of that spread goes to the partner who referred you, and if you open your XM trading account through our link, most of that part comes back to you.

What Fees Does XM Charge?
Most XM traders pay only two costs: the spread on every trade and the swap on trades held overnight. The card below lists every XM fee and when you pay it.
XM fees
SpreadPer trade
Swap on overnight tradesPer night
Trading commission$0
Deposit fee$0
Withdrawal fee$0
Inactivity fee$10 a month
Transfer between currencies0.3%
So on a Standard, Micro or Ultra Low account, the spread and the swap are usually all that you pay XM. You pay the other fees only after 90 days with no activity, on a transfer between currencies, or on the Shares account.
The card leaves out one cost, because it is inside the spread. Part of your spread goes to the partner who referred you to XM.
Who Earns From the Spread You Pay at XM?
If you opened your XM trading account through a partner’s link, XM pays that partner part of your spread on every lot. At XM’s top partner level, that is $9.00 of the $21.10 spread on a Standard EURUSD lot, and $20.00 of the $54.80 on a lot of gold.

You pay the same spread with or without a partner, so this payment is not an extra fee. What changes is who keeps it, and some partners pay part of it back to you as a rebate.
ForexFanClub is one of those partners. Through our link, 90% of the money that XM pays us for your trades comes back to you as our rebate, which is $8.10 on each EURUSD lot and $18.00 on each lot of gold.
So if you trade 10 lots of EURUSD a month, you get $81 a month that would otherwise stay with your partner or with XM. To get it, open your XM trading account through our link.
If you already trade on XM, your partner at XM changes when you open a new trading account through another partner’s link. So you can still get the rebate on a new trading account, and the XM partner code guide shows how.
How Much Does One XM Trade Cost?
On a Standard account, 1 lot of EURUSD costs about $21.10 in spread, or $13.00 after our rebate. There is no commission or brokerage per order, so the spread is the whole cost of opening and closing a trade.
The tables below show the cost of a 1-lot trade before and after the rebate.
1 lot of EURUSD
| Cost | Standard account | Ultra Low account |
|---|---|---|
| Spread, 24-hour average | 2.11 pips | 1.22 pips |
| Spread for 1 lot | $21.10 | $12.20 |
| Our rebate | −$8.10 | −$3.15 |
| Net cost after the rebate | $13.00 | $9.05 |
1 lot of gold (100 ounces)
| Cost | Standard account | Ultra Low account |
|---|---|---|
| Spread, 24-hour average | $0.55 an ounce | $0.31 an ounce |
| Spread for 1 lot | $54.80 | $30.90 |
| Our rebate | −$18.00 | −$9.00 |
| Net cost after the rebate | $36.80 | $21.90 |
On the Ultra Low account, you get a smaller rebate, but you save more on the spread than you give up. So one lot costs you about $4 less on EURUSD and about $15 less on gold, even after the rebate.

Your cost on a real trade depends on when you trade, because the spread changes all day. These tables use the 24-hour average, which is higher than the lowest spread on XM’s account types page, such as 1.6 pips for EURUSD on the Standard account.
During big news, at weekends and before a market closes, you pay more than the average. So check today’s spreads in the XM spread tool before you trade.
If you trade less than 1 lot, the cost falls in the same proportion. For example, at 0.01 lot of EURUSD on a Standard account, you pay about $0.21 in spread, because one pip is worth $0.10 at that size.
For silver, oil, stock indices and other instruments, the cost panel in our XM rebate guide shows the spread, the rebate and the net cost of each one. Our tools also work out today’s numbers for your own trade size.
We recommend the Ultra Low account for trades that you close the same day, because those trades cost less there, even after the rebate.
However, the Ultra Low account has no deposit bonus. If the extra margin from the bonus matters more to you, choose the Standard account.
The XM account types guide compares the two accounts beyond the cost of a trade.
What Does It Cost to Hold an XM Trade Overnight?
Each night that you hold an XM trade, you pay or receive a swap. On a Standard account, one night on a 1-lot gold buy costs $78.60, more than its $54.80 spread. So on gold buys held for several nights, the swap is the biggest cost.
A 1-lot trade held for 1 night
| Standard account | Ultra Low account | |
|---|---|---|
| Gold, buy position | Pays $78.60 | $0.00 |
| Gold, sell position | Receives $16.80 | $0.00 |
| EURUSD, buy position | Pays $7.80 | $0.00 |
| EURUSD, sell position | Receives $1.40 | $0.00 |
If you hold trades overnight, the Ultra Low account saves you the swap on gold, silver, and the major and cross currency pairs. Stock indices, oil and other instruments have a swap on both account types. Futures instruments have no swap on either.
There is one limit. If a large share of your overnight positions is on swap-free instruments, XM can treat this trading as misuse under its client agreement. So take care when you hold swap-free instruments for a long time.
If your trade stays open on Wednesday night, you pay or receive three times the usual swap, because it covers the weekend. So a position held from Monday to the next Monday pays or receives the swap for seven nights.
The swap also changes with interest rates, so the table shows the rates of one day only. The XM swap tool shows today’s swap for each trading instrument.
Does XM Charge Withdrawal Fees?
No. XM charges no fee for withdrawals or deposits. The money can still arrive a little short, because your own bank or card company can charge its own fee.
An international bank transfer also has a fee at XM’s bank. If you withdraw 200 USD or more by international bank transfer, XM pays this fee for you.
The XM withdrawal guide shows how long a withdrawal takes and where the money goes for each payment method.
Does XM Charge an Inactivity Fee?
Yes, XM charges 10 USD a month on a trading account with no activity for 90 days. One trade, deposit or withdrawal starts the 90 days again, so a trading account that you use never pays this fee.
The XM inactivity fee guide shows what counts as activity, the cheapest way to avoid the fee and what to do once XM has charged it.
What Other Fees Does XM Have?
Three smaller costs depend on how you use XM: the exchange rate on a deposit in another currency, 0.3% on a transfer between currencies, and dividends on stock and index CFDs.
- Exchange rates
When you deposit in another currency, XM converts it to your trading account’s currency. You see the rate in the XM app and WebTrader before you confirm, but the card company sets the rate for cards. - Internal transfers
Between your trading accounts in different currencies, XM adds 0.3% to the exchange rate, so a transfer of $1,000 costs you about $3. An internal transfer in the same currency has no fee. - Dividends
On stock and index CFDs, a buy position receives the dividend and a sell position pays it on the ex-dividend date. A buy position on US stock CFDs also pays US tax on the dividend.
The payment methods differ by country, and the XM deposit guide shows the ones for your country.
