The HFM App and the MT5 app use the same HFM trading account. The HFM App also handles your money, and MT5 has more chart tools.
Checked on 6 November 2026
We installed both apps and followed each step on a new demo trading account, up to the last tap before an order. This guide shows which app to use for what, and how to reach your first order.
Both apps need an HFM login and a trading account first, and if you are new to HFM, you can register on the HFM website.

Which HFM App Should You Install?
The HFM App is the one to install first, because the HFM App handles your money, your trading accounts and your trades in one place, and the MT5 app is the one to add if you want more chart tools or more types of pending order.
Both apps use the same HFM trading account, so you can change your app later. You can keep the HFM App for deposits and withdrawals and read your charts in MT5.
| HFM App | MT5 app | |
|---|---|---|
| Deposits and withdrawals | Yes | No |
| Chart indicators | 5 | 32 |
| Orders at a chosen price | 1 switch | 6 types |
| Trade size | Amount, lot size or units | Lot size |
| Stop loss | Price or loss amount | Price |
The chart is the biggest difference for most traders. The MT5 app has 32 indicators and the HFM App has five.
So if you trade with a tool such as Ichimoku or the Stochastic Oscillator, you need MT5, but if you use moving averages, RSI, Bollinger Bands, MACD or ATR, the HFM App already has them.
The HFM App has its own advantages for a new trader, because you can set a stop loss as an amount of money instead of a price, and you never leave the app to add funds.
Do the HFM App and MT5 Use the Same Trading Account?
Yes, an HFM MT5 trading account works in both the HFM App and the MT5 app, with the same balance and the same spread.
We opened a new demo trading account in the HFM App and logged in to that trading account in the MT5 app. Both apps showed a balance of $100,000, and gold showed a spread of 34 points in both apps.

So you do not need a separate trading account for each app. HFM says the same on its app page (opens in a new tab), and all HFM trading accounts can trade in the HFM App, including the ones on MT4.
The HFM App asks for two logins, which surprises many people. Your myHF details open the app, and when you choose an existing trading account, the app asks for the password of that trading account.
A trading account that you open inside the app connects without this second step. The HFM login guide explains which password is which.
Does the HFM App Change Your Trading Cost?
The HFM App does not change your trading cost, because your cost depends on the account type.
A rebate is the part of HFM’s partner commission that ForexFanClub pays back to you on every lot. After that rebate, one lot of gold costs $10.44 on the Pro account and $22.03 on the Premium account in both apps.
That difference of $11.59 a lot stays with you on every trade, so the account type is the choice that saves you money. The HFM account types guide compares every account, and the HFM rebate guide shows the amount on each instrument.
The rebate works in both apps too, because the rebate follows the partner of your trading account. The HFM App has its own Register button, so to have ForexFanClub as your partner from the start, register through the button below and then log in to the app with the same details.
If you already use HFM, the app can add a partner to your wallet. Open More, then Set Partner & Campaign ID. The change applies to your wallet and to new trading accounts, so your current trading accounts keep their partner. The HFM rebate guide has the steps.

How Do You Download the HFM App Safely?
The safe places to download the HFM App are Google Play (opens in a new tab) and the App Store (opens in a new tab), and the publisher on Google Play is HF Markets Fintech Services Ltd. Your phone needs Android 10 or iOS 16.0 or later, and the app also runs on Android tablets and on iPads.
Those two stores are the only places that HFM names for the app. Search results for the app also show APK download sites, but those sites are not HFM pages. You type your login into this app and you move money with it, so use the store version.
A phone that has been rooted or changed with a custom system cannot run the app. The HFM App stops on the screen “HFM App cannot be used on this device”, so you need to use another phone or log in through a web browser.
The MT5 app is a general app from MetaQuotes that works with many brokers, so there is no separate HFM version. Install MetaTrader 5 from your app store, and add your HFM trading account inside the app.
The HFM App is only for phones and tablets. On a computer, download MT5 from HFM (opens in a new tab) or open HFM WebTrader (opens in a new tab) in your web browser.
How Do You Start Trading in the HFM App?
In the HFM App, you log in with your myHF details, choose a trading account, open a market and tap Buy or Sell.
The first tap on Buy or Sell only opens the order screen, and the order goes through from the green or red button at the bottom of that screen. The order screen opens when the Quick Trading switch is off under More and Trading Settings.
Open the app, tap Log In and type your email address or phone number, then your myHF password.

Tap the trading account line at the top of Markets, choose the trading account and tap Select & Trade.

Type the password of that trading account and tap Continue.

In Markets, open a tab such as Commodities, tap XAUUSD for gold, and tap Buy or Sell.

Choose the Lots tab, set the size and turn on Stop loss. Then tap the button at the bottom to send the order.

On your first trade, set the size in lots and set a stop loss before you tap the last button. The Amount field is a poor place to start, because the Amount field shows the margin instead of the trade size.
What Does Amount Mean in the HFM App?
In the HFM App, Amount is the margin for your trade, not the size of your trade, and the Lots tab shows the size. The Amount field and the Margin Required line showed the same number on our order screen, and that number was $40.61 for 0.05 lots of gold.

That small number hides a large trade. 0.05 lots of gold is five ounces, and those ounces were worth about $20,300 at that price. So every $1 move in gold changes your result by $5, and a $40 entry can lose much more than $40 if you keep the trade open.
So use the Lots tab, and work out the size first with the lot size calculator. The order screen in the HFM App opened at 0.05 lots for us, while the MT5 app opens at 0.01 lots. Check the size each time.
How Do You Open an HFM Demo Account in the App?
You open an HFM demo account in the HFM App from My Wallet, under Demo Accounts, with Open Demo Account. The form has three short screens, and the demo trading account is ready as soon as you finish. HFM also sends the details to your email address.
Tap Menu, then My Wallet. Open Demo Accounts and tap Open Demo Account.

Choose Demo Premium and tap Continue. On the next screen, choose MT5 and tap Continue.

Choose the currency, the leverage and the balance, and type a password for this trading account. Then tap Open Demo Account.

A Demo Premium trading account has up to $100,000 of virtual money and lasts 60 days. Choose MT5 on the Platform screen, because the MT5 version showed 500+ instruments and the MT4 version showed 150+.
The demo account comparison shows how this demo account compares with other brokers.
Can You Deposit and Withdraw in the HFM App?
Yes, you deposit and withdraw in the HFM App from My Wallet, and the MT5 app has no menu for your money. The wallet holds your money, and you then move money from the wallet to a trading account with Transfer Funds. Each trading account in My Wallet also has its own Funds button.

The HFM minimum deposit guide shows how much your first deposit needs to be, and the HFM withdrawal guide shows when your money arrives.
How Do You Log In to HFM in the MT5 App?
You log in to the MT5 app with the trading account ID, the password of that trading account and its server, after you choose HF Markets (SV) Ltd. as the company. The HFM App shows the trading account ID and the server on the row of each trading account.
In the HFM App, open My Wallet and then Live Accounts or Demo Accounts. Tap the row of the trading account, and note the server and the ID.

In the MT5 app, open the menu, tap Manage accounts and tap the plus. Search for HF Markets and tap HF Markets (SV) Ltd.

Type the ID in Login and the password of the trading account in Password, choose the Server and tap LOGIN.

One small trap is in the server name. The HFM App showed HFMarketsGlobal-Demo 4 with a space, and the list in the MT5 app showed HFMarketsGlobal-Demo4 without a space, but both names point to the same server. If MT5 says Invalid account, the HFM login guide shows the usual causes.
How Do You Place a Trade in the MT5 App?
In the MT5 app, you tap the symbol in Quotes, choose New Order, set the lots and tap Sell by Market or Buy by Market. Those two buttons send the order at the market price, so set the lots and the stop loss first.
In Quotes, tap the symbol and choose New Order.

Set the lots with the numbers on the line at the top. Tap the plus next to SL to set a stop loss. Then tap the button at the bottom.

Gold may not be in your Quotes list at the start. Tap the plus at the top of Quotes, search for XAUUSD and tap the plus next to the symbol.
The Market Execution line at the top is where MT5 goes beyond the HFM App. Tap that line to choose one of the six pending orders, such as Buy Limit or Sell Stop.
HFM App FAQ
- Is the HFM App free?
-
Yes, the HFM App and the MT5 app are both free to install. HFM charges no fee for downloading or using MT5. You pay the spread and any commission of your trading account when you trade.
- Can you use HFM Copy Trading in the app?
-
Yes, HFM Copy Trading is in the HFM App, under Menu. The HFM copy trading guide shows the costs and how to choose a strategy.
- Why does MT5 say Trading disabled?
-
MT5 shows “Trading disabled” when the trading account cannot trade at that moment, and the account card then says Read Only.
You can still see prices and your balance. First check that you typed the trading password of that trading account, and not its Read-only Password. If the password is right, ask HFM support, because the message says the setting is on the server.
Where the facts come from:
Sources and how we checked them
The two apps
We read every screen in the HFM App, version 4.4.39, and in the MT5 app, version 500.6260, on Android on 6 November 2026. We opened a new demo trading account in the HFM App and logged in to the same trading account in the MT5 app. We stopped before the last button of each order, so we placed no order. The iPhone versions may look slightly different.
The HFM pages
The supported systems, the stores and the statement that all trading accounts work in the app are on the HFM App page of the HFM website. The publisher is on the Google Play page. The 60 days of a Demo Premium trading account are in the form and in the HFM client agreement.
The cost of gold
The costs are the 24-hour averages in our rebate ranking, updated on 15 October 2026 at 17:05 UTC, the same figures as in the HFM account types guide.
Which Page Do You Need Next?
Once the app is on your phone, the next step is usually your login, your account type and your first deposit. These pages cover each one.
Once the HFM trading account is open, add it to Forex FanClub. The member area lists every rebate payment day by day, across every broker you use. Registration is free and takes an email address.
